I think this thread is over-optimistic about this stretch of trail. Hiking it last spring, I couldn't wait to get off. Motorcycles, Jeeps and tractors roaring by. If you like hiking a gravel or dirt road, then go. But if you want trails in the Himalayas you need to go elsewhere. I think entire west side of the Annapurna Circuit is ruined, and I would no longer recommend it. You can get off of it in places. And it is possible that an alternate trail can go in, but even then you would be near a road and all which that brings with it. I felt sorry for some of the very good little lodge owners along this. They've lost busines through no fault of their own. It will only get worse...
