Thanks everyone for the info. I'm not going to try to do this one independently as I really can't imagine schlepping my food and gear etc. for 3 weeks - I want to do the Darcha to Lamayuru trek, it's just too much stuff to carry at that altitude!

Anyway, I'm wondering if anyone could tell me what sleeping bag I should bring with me. the one I took to Nepal for the Annapurna Circuit goes down to -25 celsius or so. I think there was only one night at Thorong Pedi I was really cold. Is this ok or do I not need such a warm bag?

Also, apparently there is a bit of a debate about north to south or vice versa on this route. I'm flying into Leh, so I think most of the companies do north to south. Will this increase my risk of AMS?

Kolobar: thanks for the contact, I've emailed them to get a quote etc.
