Time (excluding rests)

8 hours

Distance

31.3 kilometres

The 20 kilometers to Woolbales consists of more bush, scrub, and wading in swamps. After Woolbales there are sections of large granite slabs with peppermint and banksias scrub offering diversity. Some hilly dunes to climb as you glimpse the ocean at long last. Long boardwalk down to nearby Mandalay Beach makes walking easier, some historical points of interest along the way.

Mystery shot 1

Having exchanged farewells at night, I rose mega-early and was on the track at 6:10am! Last 5 kilometres into Woolbales was all wading - luv it!. Just bite the bullet, plough through, boots and all. Arrived at Woolbales (20 kilometres) at 11 am, tired and with a slight headache, which is understandable given I only had a cup of tea for sustenance! Had a 3 hour break there, including a visit up the Woolbales Rock for the magnificent view.

Off again at 2 pm, I feel refreshed and eager to see the Ocean for the first time in 6 weeks. This 11 kilometre section was tough as my energy was low and the Bibbulmun Track was sandy in places.

Just near the summit of a dune, I found a large tiger snake (No 18 so far), curled up on the path. Coaxed it away then reveled in the ocean view! Had a quick dip in large saltwater puddle then found great shelter - ladies toilet with water tank at hand. Toasty warm inside. Hope I don't get any visitors, as the sight of me in the toilet would cause a lady to freak out.
