Day 32 Boardinghouse to Beavis Campsite |
Challenging section of the Bibbulmun Track, in particular the last half of the day's walk. River comes and goes as track winds its way south, very steep in places. Few obstacles like fallen trees to go around or over, fascinating places. A change in vegetation occurs near Beavis Campsite. Swamp banksia, river cedar and peppermint trees make this section a favourite for many people. |

![]() Left Boardinghouse at 8:15am. First 8 kilometres not too hard, had a break at nice picnic spot by the river. Had a dip at 10 kilometre mark as hills and heat starting to take effect. Passed Hermon and Anneka at the 12 kilometre mark as we approach hilly terrain. Scenery is magic, just like a fairy tale, with ferns, karri trees, a waterfall, pools and birds chirping. There are a few difficult obstacles, such as trees across path. Power walked it in, arriving sooner than expected at 2:15pm. The Beavis Hut is a different design, situated near a great swimming hole. I think this is the best hut yet. Had a refreshing swim, sunbake and did some reading. Peaceful, serene spot, amazing. Had my best sleep ever 11pm to 5am without stirring! Weather last night was well, fairly warm, so it was nice to shed the beanie, gloves and thick socks. ![]() |
