Day 26 Balingup to Blackwood |
A couple of kilometres out of town the Bibbulmun Track passes through the Golden Valley Tree Park. Many tree specimens planted including huge oak trees. Many rolling hills today with a humungous hill climb 2.5 kilometres from Blackwood Campsite. The hut is near pine plantations with spectacular views from the summit. |

![]() Left Balingup at 9am lovely walk through Golden Valley Tree Park with its nice oak trees. After Greenbushes Loop I had a refreshing swim that reminded me of the catchment in Darlington [Editor's note - he shouldn't have ever been swimming in there - wait till I tell his Mum!] Was hard to get out as the sides of the dam were slippery clay. Left flowers and messages for Claire and Jessica who were one and a half hours behind me. Lovely views of rolling hills and pine forest. Climbed massive hill after serenading cows and lambs with my harmonica. Blackwood Hut has views worth 'dying for', and after arriving at 2pm I played with "booma" [Australian for boomerang...] and had a read and then a sleep. Stayed up chatting with the girls who thought I was only 27 - 32 tops. Thanks girls! Misty morning in pine forest, rather nice. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
