Day 18 Harris Dam to Collie |
A leisurely 3.5 kilometres and you arrive at Harris Dam on Lake Ballingall, which is worth pausing at. Perrin Lookout is worth a detour (500 metres) to view the spectacular lake. Relatively level walk through state forest with a few roads to cross over. |

![]() Keen to knock off the last 21.5 kilometres, I leave early at 6:30am. Ate my last bit of food (1 muesli bar) and off I went. Averaged 4 kilometres an hour for 4 hours but as always the last 5 kilometres seemed like a death sentence. Fairly flat walk through the State Forest, area around Harris Dam was a bit like Mundaring Weir. Hit Collie smack on 12 then buy my usual bread, ham, cheese, sardines and Snickers Bar for lunch by the Collie River. A few ducks and birds pestered me for food. Staying at Collie River Valley Caravan Park for only $10 per night. I'm in like a games room with a pool table, television, fridge, microwave and even bowls. Stayed up until midnight watching the Footy Show, which is much raunchier than I remember. Placed report in WA Footy Forum website at library. Had Chicken Treat for dinner. Yumm! [Editor's note - "Chicken Treat" is a WA based chicken fast food chain] |
