:: Queensland Racing
Champagne Anyone ?
Perhaps
the most attractive aspect of Queensland Racing for owners are the
carnival events staged North of the border.
The cornerstones of the off track entertainment in Queensland are
the Magic Millions Summer Carnival, the Brisbane Winter Carnival and
the Magic Millions Winter Carnival.
The Magic Millions Summer Carnival is gaining notoriety as much for
its social activities, as its high class racing on the track.
Show Me The Money
The Queensland Racing Industry is set to boom with the announcement
of a $10 million injection into prizemoney. A raft of new
initiatives set to benefit owners with horses racing in Queensland
will come into play in 2004.
Now over half the races run in the Metropolitan Area in Queensland
will carry minimum prizemoney of $40,000.
Minimum midweek Metropolitan prizemoney will be $13,000.
Major provincial clubs Gold Coast, Ipswich, Sunshine Coast and
Toowoomba will also carry 260 new races with prizemoney starting at
$12,000 and ranging up to $17,000.
Queensland Racing will also conduct 12 new fillies and mares races
worth $100,000 each. These races will help assist the Queensland
Breeding Industry, with a view to increasing the number of black
type races conducted in the Sunshine State.
Win More Often
Racing at the Gold Coast is conducted every Saturday, with minimum
prizemoney of $7,000. This prizemoney is comparable to the Newcastle
and Kembla Grange clubs in New South Wales which both race on
Saturdays.
Whilst the prizemoney is comparative to our Southern counterparts,
the competition is far inferior enabling horses to progress through
their grades with greater ease in Queensland.
So, if you've got a horse that's struggling to win in provincial
grade in NSW or VIC, send it North !
You'll be in the winners circle quicker than you can say "back to
the bar"!
