Besides photography of trains, I have amassed an archive of about 1 420 audio recordings of mainly steam-hauled trains from Jan 1975 up till the present time. These have been recorded on Digital Audio Tape (DAT) since about June 1991 and high quality reel-to-reel tape since before then. My entire archive of audio tapes was recently backup as high resolution audio files, and these are now safely stored on archive quality DVDROM, as well as a 300 GB portable hard drive.
The best audio recordings of trains are to be had at night, and it is still not unusual to find one of us perched on a desolate and remote railway cutting, in the dead of night, in the freezing rain and mist, getting just that one more "perfect" (this will be the one) recording! Some of these are now available to the public, so contact me on my email address for further info.: drittson@hotmail.com

Changed from film to digital photography in 2003, with more and more pictures appearing in the latter part of the train section of this homepage having been taken with a digital camera.
