Cape of Good Hope

View of 12 Apostles and Cape Town
One of our days in Cape Town we hired a car and headed south to Cape of Good Hope.  The coast road through the southern suburbs of Cape Town offers many great views of both the cliff line and the ocean shore.

Ostrich and Atlantic Coast
Possibly an escapee from an ostrich farm near the Cape of Good Hope National Park, the ostrich had a great outlook while grazing.
After cheating and taking the trolley most of the way to the top, you then are obliged to climb the remaining steps to see the best view of Cape Point and towards Cape of Good Hope and across False Bay.
Cape Point Lighthouse
Cape of Good Hope Sign
The obligatory photo.  Tackfully called the 'Most South Western Point' in Africa.  The southern most point is a couple of hundred kms to the east.  However Cape of Good Hope is supposed to be where the Indian and Atlantic oceans meet.

Castle of Good Hope
Key Ceremony at Castle of Good Hope - Cape Town
In downtown Cape Town, we visited the Castle of Good Hope.  The picture was taken during the Key Ceremony.  Lots of saluting and marching, and some neat bell ringing.  Can you tell I was paying attention?
Lots of good angles for photos to be found.  Here the stonework needs a paint.  In the main courtyard (above), some of the paintwork has been done to look like marble, and from a distance it sort of works.
