Botswana:
Okavango Delta
Chobe National Park

  Okavango Delta
Aerial View of the Okavango
This is an aerial view of a small part of the Okavango Delta.  Most of the group on the truck went for a 3 day trip into the delta by mokoro (native dugout canoe), camping by the side of the river.
In the foreground is a 'modern' fibreglass moulded mokoro.  Behind is a traditional carved mokoro.  The new one, you are pretty much guaranteed to stay dry.  The old ones can be a bit leaky...  Here we went out to watch sunset over the delta.

Hippo at Okavango
On our late afternoon 'sunset' paddle, we watched a hippo in a deeper pool on the delta.
The anticipated sunset... Sunset over the Delta
Game walks at sunrise
While at the delta, we went on several game walks at sunrise and sunset.  Best game spotted was a pride of lions, but they were off into the grass before we could grab proof on camera!

Lions after a big meal
Lions, with photographic evidence...  This pride of lions was finishing up breakfast.  Remains of a baby elephant were seen, and occasionally, a lion would go back for another bite.
Lots of hippos sunning themselves on the banks of the Chobe river.  This was still early morning, before they retreat to the water.

Baboons
Who is watching who, Mrs Baboon?
A giraffe coming in for a closer look at us.
